Elementary Strings Program
The elementary strings program is available to all 3RD, 4TH,and 5TH grade students that would like to learn how to play the violin, viola, or cello. Students learn to develop their ear (listening, evaluation, tuning), read music, develop self-discipline, poise, and self-confidence through performance, follow directions, function in a group, plan their time, and realize the joy of making music with the special sound of strings. The students perform three concerts throughout the school year. The program begins in early October and continues through May.
Students must provide string instrument. There are several music stores that rent string instruments. Names of music stores and rental information will be provided at a later time. For those families on free/reduced lunch, there is the option of renting from the school district.
Group lessons are held once a week after school for 45 minutes. Parents can choose any location that best fits their child and family’s needs. There are no lessons on days that school is not in session.
