Jolly Jester Theater for Children

Jolly Jester Children’s Theater is a musical theater opportunity for children in 1st grade through 8th grade. Our production this year will be “Mirror Image”.

Fantasy comes face to face with the hard reality of high school in this pop musical adventure where the best — and worst! — of both worlds meet. In the fairy tale world, princes are charming and stepsisters are wicked. But the Woodsman dreams of being more than an incidental character without a name. He wants to be the hero. When Cinderella’s stepsisters find a portal to another world, they get zapped into a very real high school. The Woodsman jumps at the chance to rescue them, but the stepsisters have no intention of returning to the fantasy realm. After all, in the “real” world, mean girls are popular! As reality seeps into the fairy tales, the characters start to break free of their patterns and the classic princesses cross the portal and discover they can be their own heroes! You’ll love this complex, rich tapestry of enchanted fun woven with a poignant, meaningful thread about what it means to be alive and in control of your own destiny.

Try-outs for the production will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 1:00 - 3:00 PM. and Sunday, October 13, 2024 from 1:00 - 3:00 PM at the Recreation Gym.

Come for try-outs at any time during the two days. Interested participants will be asked to sing a song with a karaoke track or acapella – 1 minute and recite a 1 minute monologue (i.e. poem, short story) preferably memorized, that you have prepared for the try-outs.

Full cast rehearsals will be held primarily at South Park Middle School on Saturday afternoons and a few Sundays.

Participants may be responsible for their own costume based on part.

A $10.00 materials fee will be collected at the first rehearsal.
