Wave Robotics (FIRST Robotics): Grades 9-12
For students grades 9-12, FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics is known as “the varsity sport for the mind.” FIRST combines the excitement of sports with the rigors of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). Under strict rules, limited resources, and time limits, teams are challenged to raise funds, design a team “brand”, perform community service, hone teamwork skills, and create a robot to perform tasks against a field of competitors. FIRST is as close to real-world business applications as a student can get. Students are led by volunteer professional mentors who lend their time and talents to guide students into STEM careers.
