Robotics & Lego League
Welcome to the World of the Future!
The ORD is proud to offer three levels of STEM activities via the following Lego League and Wave Robotics programs:
- Who is this for?: Grades K - 4
- Day: Varies by team.
- Date: Varies by team.
- Time: Varies by team.
- Location: Varies by team.
For students grades K-4, FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Lego League captures young children’s curiosity and directs it toward discovering the wonders of science and technology. This program features a real-world scientific concept to be explored through research, teamwork, construction, and imagination. Guided by adult coaches, teams use LEGO bricks to build a model and then showcase their journey at the FIRST Lego League Expo hosted by Wave Robotice in December.

Wave Robotics (FIRST Robotics): Grades 9-12
For students grades 9-12, FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics is known as “the varsity sport for the mind.” FIRST combines the excitement of sports with the rigors of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). Under strict rules, limited resources, and time limits, teams are challenged to raise funds, design a team “brand”, perform community service, hone teamwork skills, and create a robot to perform tasks ...
